Our Story

Our organization was born in 2011 when then Superintendent of Plymouth (MA) Public Schools Gary Maestas sought to challenge the district’s students through action. The action—a 600-mile cycling trip from Washington, D.C. to Plymouth, MA—laid the foundation for what later became Dreamride.

Today, we’ve created resources to encourage thousands of students to think about and pursue their dreams, led assemblies, and donated exercise equipment like bicycles, helmets, and sneakers.

In 2019, we became a Massachusetts-based nonprofit committed to championing children’s health & wellness through our active events and programs. Our volunteer board of directors is a dynamic group of community leaders—educators, coaches, executives, and social entrepreneurs—united by a common purpose of health, learning, and action.

Our board is responsible for the organization’s activities, fundraising, and service to the community, with primary activities involving youth-centric programs, events, and partnerships designed to increase accessibility and drive health and educational progress.
